Manure digester readies for pipeline grade methane

RUPERT n They're cooking with gas n well, almost.

Within the next few weeks, owners of an anaerobic digester, which converts dairy waste into gas, will know whether their methane meets industry standards. If so, the Rupert digester will be the first of its kind in the nation to turn manure into pipeline-quality biogas.

"We don't have any doubts," said Jacob Dustin, president of the company responsible for the digester. "We will know very soon."
