The College of Southern Idaho rodeo team got its fall schedule off to a quick start as the Golden Eagles men finished second at the Rocky Mountain Region rodeo held in Salt Lake City on Friday and Saturday.

The Golden Eagles cowboys finished second to Utah Valley State College while the CSI cowgirls tied for third in the event hosted by Salt Lake Community College. The CSI cowboys scored 690 points to UVSC's 1,160, while the Golden Eagles cowgirls were only 90 points behind first-place Weber State University's 300 total.

Monty Johnson and Zack Elliott led CSI's charge by taking first and second, respectively in bull riding. Johnson scored a 75-point ride, while Elliott scored a 73. Sophomore Andrew Hummel was third in the men's all-around competition with 210 points. The cowboy from Nampa finished second in tie-down roping and third in team roping with header Kortni Scott.

CSI also received top-three finishes from Alex Wright, Tyson Brown, Scott, Italy Jo Sheehan, Bobbi Wing and Megan Mackenzie. The next National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Rocky Mountain Region rodeo will be held Sept. 28-29 at Utah State University in Logan, Utah.
