The College of Southern Idaho men's and women's rodeo team solidified their spots among the top programs in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association with a strong showing during last week's three days of rodeo at the Bannock County Fairgrounds in Pocatello.

The CSI cowgirls and cowboys both finished second in the one-go Rocky Mountain Regional rodeo on Thursday, while the CSI men finished second at the two-day Idaho State University rodeo, held Friday and Saturday. The CSI women slipped a bit, finishing sixth at the ISU rodeo.

Former Gooding High cowgirl Italy Jo Sheehan vaulted to third nationally in barrel racing after a 16.60-second go on Thursday, while saddle bronc rider Alex Wright moved to fourth nationally after finishing second in Thursday's rodeo and first at the ISU rodeo. CSI cowboys Zack Elliot and Drew Hummel are also among the nation's Top 10 in bull riding and tie-down roping, respectively.

The Golden Eagles finish up their slate of fall rodeos on Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Southern Utah University rodeo in Cedar City, Utah.
