ITD warns of vehicle registration scam
At least one Twin Falls County resident reports receiving a phone call from someone requesting that he renew his vehicle registration, according to the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office.
Idaho Transportation Department officials say they never solicit registrations by phone and to be aware that callers who want your vehicle registration information by phone may be attempting to steal your identity. After receiving similar reports, officials warn that the calls are probably a scam.
The Idaho Attorney General's Office Consumer Protection Division asks anyone who believes they may be a victim of identity theft to call (208) 334-2424 or (800) 432-3545.
