Two T.F. residents arrested for trafficking marijuana
Two Twin Falls residents arraigned Thursday on charges of trafficking marijuana are connected to the largest pot seizure of the year by city police, authorities said.
An Idaho Power employee tipped police off to pot allegedly growing in the backyard of 458 Wakefield St.
Police said they found 43 plants in the garden, another four plants growing in the basement of the home, and 2.5 pounds of marijuana in bags and jars in a bedroom.
They arrested Echo M. Sill, 28, and Shelton Amos, 28 on the trafficking charges. Both are lodged in the Twin Falls County Jail on $7,500 bond and couldn't be reached Thursday for comment.
Three children were taken from the home, which police said was rented. They were put in state custody for being in "imminent danger," according to a police report.
Police found liquid fertilizer in a tub in the basement that was being automatically pumped to plants growing inside. "I recognized that this grow was a large commercial operation by the equipment used, the level of sophistication, the timing of the grow lights, and the automatic fertilizer system," an officer wrote in a report.
Before Wednesday's arrests, city police had seized 800 grams of marijuana for the year, said Twin Falls Police Capt. Matt Hicks.
The weight of the plants is still being determined, Hicks said.
"For us, that's a very big seizure," he said. "It's not clear how many people, if any, they were supplying."
The felony marijuana trafficking charges stem from the number of plants that police allegedly found.
