Pat's Picks
• This sounds like one fascinating event. Ketchum resident Charlie Brandt discusses his experiences writing about the Mafia during a free presentation at 6 p.m. at the Community Library, 415 Spruce St. N. in Ketchum. His book, "I Heard You Paint Houses," portrays Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran, who confessed to killing Teamster Jimmy Hoffa. The story is being made into a movie starring Robert DeNiro. We're talking DeNiro.

• For quieter tastes, a Holiday Wine Tasting and Silent Auction offers some great items starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Rock Creek Restaurant, 200 Addison Ave. W. It's sponsored by the Magic Valley Advertising Federation, and proceeds benefit the MVAF CSI Marketing scholarship fund. Tickets are $25 at the door. Contact Debbie Currier at 736-0823 for tickets or more information.

• Learn square dancing from the Magic Valley Singles at 7 p.m. at the Jerome Senior Citizens Center, 212 First Ave. E. The first time is free, then there's a small fee after that. For more information, call Steve Hadley 731-9360.
