LOCAL ROUNDUP: Briggs buzzer-beater gives Declo boys OT win

Times-News

Tyler Briggs hit a 10-foot jumper as time expired in the overtime period to give the Declo boys basketball team a 78-76 home victory over Soda Springs, in Class 2A nonconference action.

The Hornets (8-3) rallied from down six points in the extra period before Briggs, who finished with 22 points, hit the game-winner.

Declo was down 10 in the fourth quarter but rallied to tie it when Brandon Peterson was fouled with no time on the clock and hit two free throws to send it to the extra session.

"It was a hard-fought game. We just did the things we needed to do when it counted," said Declo head coach Dee Lewis. "We got the ball inside a lot and got 10 points from the free throw line in the fourth quarter, which was really a key for us."

Declo is at American Falls today.
