Twin Falls City Councilman Greg Lanting pulled away from his three opponents and picked up a second term in tonight's municipal elections.
With all votes counted:
Lanting won his seat with 956 votes, just ahead of former councilman Chris Talkington with 834, Steve Garner with 213 and Jim Schouten with 184 votes, according to results posted on Twin Falls County Web site.
Incumbents in other towns didn't fare as well.
Voters in Kimberly got rid of two incumbents, George Plew and Warren Wade, according to Twin Falls County results posted online. Instead, Burke Richman and Brandon Hoobler earned the two council seats with 310 and 235 votes, respectively. Plew earned 175 votes and challenger Jesse Harrell took 142, just ahead of Wade with 130.
Kimberly voters did approve a special revenue bond issue for water improvements, with 289 voters in favor and 266 opposed. The measure needed a simple majority to pass.
Burley Mayor Jon Anderson lost his bid for re-election to businessman Terry Greenman. Anderson received 449 votes. Greenman received 908 votes.
On the Burley City Council, incumbent Steve McGill was re-elected with 677 votes, but challenger Casey Andersen will replace incumbent Councilman Dennis Dexter. Andersen took 997 votes to Dexter's 535 votes.
Challenger Don Dean, a former council member, received 475 votes. Randy Golay, with 438 votes, placed last in Burley's at-large council race.
