BJ bridge announces results
BJ Duplicate Bridge Club in Rupert has announced the results of Tuesday play.

Property Tax Reduction deadline is Wednesday
The deadline to apply for the 2009 Property Tax Reduction is Wednesday, according to the Minidoka County Treasurer's office.
The tax reduction program reduces property taxes for qualified applicants. If you qualify, the property taxes on your home and up to one acre of land may be reduced by as much as $1,320. To be eligible, claimants must have no more than $28,000 in income for 2008 after deducting non-reimbursed medical expenses. They must also be in at least one of the following categories as of January 1: Age 65 or older; widow(er) of any age; disabled (as recognized by the Social Security Administration, Veterans Affairs, Railroad Retirement Board or Federal Civil Service); blind; fatherless or motherless child under 18 years old; or former prisoner of war or hostage.
Documentation showing proof of citizenship is needed for new applicants. Receipts or paid statements will be needed on all medical expenses.
Applications are being taken at the Minidoka County Treasurer's office in Rupert, 436-7188 and at the Cassia County Assessor's office in Burley, 878-3540.
Rupert native graduates from Army basic training
Army Pvt. Cody J. Holmes has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
Holmes is the son of Kay Holmes of Rupert and a 2008 graduate of the Centennial Job Corps Center, Nampa.
CSI holds Gettysburg class
The College of Southern Idaho Mini-Cassia enrichment program has scheduled a three-week opportunity to step back in time and learn about the Battle of Gettysburg. Classes will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, April 30 to May 14.
Gettysburg was one of the most important battles of the Civil War. This three-week course will delve into the leadership, unique geography and the organization of the armies involved. Joe Colflesh will include museum quality replicas and original items from the era in the classroom experience.

Trinity Lutheran Church to hold salad luncheon
Trinity Lutheran Church Parish Hall will host its Spring Salad Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the church, corner of Eighth and I streets, Rupert.
The menu will feature salads, desserts and beverages. Crafts, baked goods and noodles will be offered for sale. Admission is by free-will donation. Proceeds go to Meals on Wheels.
CSI M-C holds computer scrapbooking class
The College of Southern Idaho Mini-Cassia Center is offering a computerized Digital Scrapbooking class from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, April 22 to May 13.
Instructor Lance Pincock will cover creating computer pages that can be copied or e-mailed to family and friends.

Free ham dinner is April 18
There will be a free community ham dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. April 18, at the Burley United Methodist Church, 450 E. 27th St.

Area students named to ISU dean's list
The Idaho State University 2008 fall semester dean's list for the College of Arts and Sciences has been announced by Scott Hughes, Ph.D., interim dean of the college.
To qualify for the dean's list, students must complete at least 12 semester credits and receive a grade point average of 3.66 or higher.

Shirley Stauffer will teach students to create high-impact presentations with audio and music added.
