Class 2A

Glenns Ferry (7-2) at North Fremont (7-1)

1 p.m., Saturday

The breakdown: Both teams are coming off narrow wins last Saturday at Holt Arena, Glenns Ferry over West Side and North Fremont over Aberdeen. The Pilots boast a trio of top-notch skill position players in Michael Crane, Ross Arellano and Terry Jacobsen. The Huskies, making their first playoff foray in six years, aim to use their line to blow open holes for Will Bollinger on offense and put pressure on Pilots quarterback Philip Owsley on defense.

Class 1A Division I

Castleford (8-1) at Cascade (4-4)

1:30 p.m., Saturday

The breakdown: Both of these teams can put up points in a hurry, and both have skill sets that could neutralize the other. Castleford looks to bounce back from its first loss of the season last week, while Cascade sneaked into the conference championship after Notus upset Council last week. With two potent offenses on the field, the first team to make a couple of stops and make the other team play catch-up will have a huge edge.

Class 1A Division II

Dietrich (4-5) at Mackay (9-0)

4 p.m.

The breakdown: Dietrich played Mackay tough in the regular season, playing the Miners to one of their closer games. The Blue Devils have big-play talent in Dion Norman and James McDaniel, and junior quarterback Alex Heimerdinger has done a good job managing the game. Opposite number Kole Krosch might be the best quarterback in the conference, though, and Mackay is always tough, especially at home.

North Gem (6-3) at Carey (8-1)

1 p.m., Saturday

The breakdown: The Panthers delivered a 26-point beatdown in Bancroft during the regular season, and seem to have rediscovered their swagger after falling at Mackay on Sept. 18. North Gem played to within single digits of conference champ Mackay two weeks ago, something only Carey was able to duplicate. Despite having the No. 2 seed in its own district, Carey still figures to be the team to beat after making the state championship game in each of the last three seasons.
